Privacy Policy

The short version: ScanMaven keeps your scans on your phone. The app does not have internet access, has no ads, no account, and no analytics. We (Ideal Financial, Inc.) never receive your scans, your text or any personal information from the app.
Who we are
ScanMaven is an Android app published by Ideal Financial, Inc. ("we," "us"). This policy covers the ScanMaven app and this website.
What the app collects
Nothing is sent to us. ScanMaven does not request Android's internet permission, so the app itself cannot upload anything. Specifically:
- Your scans and their text are created and stored on your phone. Text reading (OCR), handwriting reading, read-aloud and question answering all run on the phone.
- No account is needed, and we don't ask for your name, email or phone number.
- No ads, no analytics and no tracking tools are built into the app.
Google services the app relies on
- Google's document scanner and text readers (Google ML Kit) run through Google Play services on your phone. Your scan images are processed on the phone. Google Play services may collect limited technical information (for example device model, app version and error reports) under Google's Privacy Policy. We don't receive this information.
- Buying Pro is handled by Google Play Billing. Google processes your payment; we receive only a confirmation that Pro was purchased, never your card details.
Permissions
- Storage (only on Android 8 and 9) to save scans to the folder you choose. Newer Android versions don't need this permission.
- Fingerprint, face or screen lock (optional) to open the app lock or private vault. Android checks this; the app never sees your fingerprint or face.
- Notifications (optional) for reminders you set.
The app does not request the camera permission itself; scanning uses Google's scanner screen.
Sharing and backups
Files leave your phone only when you choose to share, print, email or save them somewhere. Backups are a single password-locked file written to the place you pick (for example Google Drive, a USB drive or a folder). Android's automatic cloud backup is turned off for ScanMaven.
Deleting your data
Because everything stays on your phone, you control it. Delete scans inside the app, or uninstall ScanMaven to remove all of its data. Backup files you made stay wherever you saved them until you delete them.
Children
ScanMaven is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
This website
scanmaven.com is hosted by Google Firebase Hosting. It uses no cookies, analytics or tracking. Like any web host, Google may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operation.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We will never change the app to collect or sell your scans.
